30 easy resolutions you can complete in 30 days

If you are one of those people who think New Year’s resolutions are an open-ended invitation to failure, I’ve got great news: Resolutions aren’t about creating perfect outcome. They’re about making progress along the journey…and enjoying it.

Not possible? Read on!

30 New Year’s resolutions in 30 days

You can probably pump these out in a week, if you make the effort. And in most cases, the effort is so small as to be negligible. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Say to yourself, “I’m worth it.” Because you are.
  • Smile. It will improve your outlook.
  • Say hello to a stranger.
  • Give a compliment and mean it.
  • Say, “No, thank you.” No further explanation is required.
  • Try something new. Anything. It helps you build your risk muscles.
  • Look in a mirror and say, “I love you.” Repeat until you mean it!
  • Laugh until tears run down your leg.

  • Ask for help when you need it. You don’t have to do it all yourself.
  • Do something nice for someone without looking for credit.
  • Listen more, talk less. Everyone has a story, if you just ask.
  • Buy flowers for yourself. Just because.
  • Accept a compliment without playing it down. Deflecting a compliment implies that the giver has poor taste or is insincere.
  • Call someone you love. Build it into your schedule.
  • Ask “What if it DOES work out?” Give yourself permission to imagine success.
  • Slow down. You’ll enjoy the journey more and won’t make nearly as many mistakes.
  • Be kind to yourself. This means “stop giving yourself a ration of grief for all of your perceived flaws.”
  • Indulge in something that you’ve denied yourself out of guilt.
  • Take responsibility for your actions – not anyone else’s.
  • Love yourself exactly the way you are, right now.
  • Take initiative to make things better in your personal life and at work.
  • Volunteer with an organization or doing an activity that is meaningful to you.
  • Speak out on a topic that’s important to you.
  • When bad things happen, ask yourself, “What can I create from this?”
  • Ask for what you want, without apology. You have the right to what you want, and to your opinion.
  • Stay off social media for a day. If that makes you feel better, try it for a weekend.
  • Stop lying to yourself. You know what I’m talking about!
  • Be bold. Playing safe won’t get you where you want to be.
  • Make time for what – and who – is important to you. \
  • Forgive yourself and others.
